Calculation space : report 03 (by marie-laure)

After the workshop with Dragana and Matthew Fuller, I summerized the wool strings algorithms here.

Now I’m working on analysing clubbers behaviour in video I’ve made, establishing parameters and generating new sets of algorithms. Then I’d like to translate those algorithms into another media, like drawings,… or to change the parameters in order to re-perform the situation into another video. I’m also interested to apply the notion of time to a media which doesn’t doesn’t include it. Have a look at the first results here!

For the ones who where interested in technical workshops over max-msp, here is the link for the workshop organised at Nadine in february:

But it will maybe be possible to organise one at transmedia. I don’t know what Boris says about that but it would be nice to have a discussion about the technical needs of everyone and see what we can do.

Calculation space – workshop report 01 – (by marie-laure)

Calculation space is the first workshop organised at TM by Dragana Antic and Matthew Fuller (who was unfortunately missing).

The idea of this workshop was to study and measure virtual informational systems in the city and to discuss about their influence and their links with the different aspects of the city (historical, cultural, architectural,…).

We started by dividing the city in 5 parts where during an hour walk we could map different informational and security systems as: alarm systems, surveillance cameras (private and for traffic), cash machines, banks, supermarkets, police stations, city halls, libraries and museums. In order to make this collection of data, we selected specific districts as commercial, industrial, working or living areas.
